so what’s your excuse?

This clip really made me think – what are my excuses every day? I won’t repeat everything that Warhawk Matt Scott says in the video, but I hope it makes you think a little bit and challenges you to consider the excuses you make every day about why you can’t (or won’t) make your dreams come true. Here’s to no more excuses…

everyone deserves a home

Yesterday morning (Saturday), I joined 5 other volunteers from Common Ground Church and about 40 other volunteers from churches around Cape Town at Mfuleni informal settlement near Bellville. Our mission: To dig the foundations of 10 new houses. This was my first time volunteering for Habitat for Humanity (http://www.habitat.org.za/). What a privilege. We didn’t get to meet the owner of the first house we dug, but at the 2nd site we were lucky to meet Nosphelo, the proud owner (see pic below). She will be moving in with her 3 children at the end of September. She was overjoyed and couldn’t stop talking about how “the Lord has seen her and was looking after her”. There was a group of kids that joined us at the 2nd site. They brought a small African drum with them. At some point, when my back and shoulders needed a break from the digging, I went to sit with them and started playing around with the drum. We spent the next 30 or so minutes singing Nkosi Sikelele, ShoSholoza, Singabahamba Yothina and many more…to the applause of the other diggers. That was the highlight of my day! I’ll definitely do this again!

who am i?

As this is my first post I am going to keep it short. This blog is all about me: What I love (and not so much); what inspires me; what makes me laugh (and who); pretty things; fun things; happy things and yummy things. Its kinda like a journal, except all of you can read it. As the image below says: if you like what I have to say, great. If not, keep it to yourself.
